Compete across stages, manage rider stamina during sprints and climbs, and strategize to claim the mythical Yellow Jersey. The experience receives a significant visual upgrade, leveraging Unreal Engine 5 to deliver reworked landscapes, more realistic lighting effects, and faithfully represented sites such as the Champs-Elysées, Trouée d'Arenberg, and Mont Ventoux.

Beyond the visual enhancements, Tour de France 2025 expands its strategic depth and multiplayer options. Players can create private online games, customizing stage types, race lengths, and game options to challenge friends in Criterium mode, selecting two riders and a team jersey. A new refuelling mechanism redefines race strategies; initial races provide one feed type, with choices between Energel and Turbogel becoming available at designated feed zones. The Turbogel specifically offers a temporary immunity to energy loss during attacks, demanding precise tactical deployment. New cycling races, including the Flèche Wallonne with its Mur de Huy finish and the Circuit Grand Est, expand the competitive calendar. Technical improvements include smoother peloton navigation, reworked sprint AI, and accessibility options for color-blind users. Criterium mode also sees the addition of five online rankings and new unlockable rewards.
