Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ is an action-adventure game that sits within the Lord of the Rings franchise. Players explore the dark fantasy world of Mordor, confronting Sauron and uncovering the origins of the Rings of Power.

The game is recognized for its innovative Nemesis system, which generated unique enemy relationships and progression. It garnered over 50 "Best of 2014" Awards, including Game of the Year. Certain online features, including the Nemesis Forge, were discontinued on December 31, 2020.
