Wars Across The World is a debut historical strategy turn-based game, designed with a boardgame spirit. Players engage in the simulation of wars and conflicts across all historical periods, from Prehistoric times to the present, operating on operational or strategic levels. The core gameplay loop utilizes an "I GO U GO" turn-based system, where players manage diverse combat units across land, naval, and air domains within a map divided into regions featuring various terrains and structures. Commanders are crucial; they provide combat bonuses to their stacks, influence morale, and enable attacks. Battles resolve in a semi-tactical manner across two rounds, calculating bonuses, penalties, and morale levels as units simultaneously engage. Players also manage an income system to maintain forces and acquire event cards.
The game's standout mechanic is its single, adaptable system of rules and situations, designed to function across all conflict types, including non-historical, alternate history, fantastic, and science fiction scenarios. This consistency ensures players learn rules once, then apply them across a wide range of content without significant adaptation. Event Cards introduce uncertainty and enhance replayability, influencing alliances, income, movement, weather, leadership, troop quality, and tactical battle aspects. The scale of play is variable, with ground combat units ranging from battalions to armies, regions representing miles or entire countries, and turns spanning hours or years. The base pack includes a tutorial and ten diverse scenarios, such as HAMILKAR 264, HASTINGS 1066, WATERLOO 1815, NORMANDIE 1944, and BERLIN 1945. A Game Editor is provided, allowing players to customize existing scenarios or design new ones, supporting solo, hot seat, and Play-by-Email modes. Wars Across The World provides a flexible, comprehensive wargame engine for historical and imagined conflicts.
