Wanderstop

Wanderstop is a narrative-driven social simulation and the debut title from Ivy Road, a studio led by the creators of The Stanley Parable and Gone Home. Alta, a world-class warrior, manages a tea shop within a magical forest despite her intense psychological resistance to the role. The loop consists of growing and harvesting botanical ingredients, processing them through a specialized brewing contraption, and serving travelers who pass through the clearing. This management ritual juxtaposes the protagonist’s violent history with the domestic demands of her current environment.

The simulation utilizes a subversive cozy structure where traditional shopkeeping tasks, such as decorating the interior or tidying the shop, clash with Alta’s desire to return to combat. Narrative progression occurs through interactions with diverse customers, requiring players to match specific recipes to the personal histories of each traveler. With a soundtrack by C418 and publication by Annapurna Interactive, the game emphasizes patience and stillness over traditional growth-focused progression. Alta’s internal struggle dictates the mechanical pace of the shop.
