Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is the latest installment in the Rune Factory action RPG series. Players assume the role of an Earth Dancer in the eastern land of Azuma, a nation shattered by a celestial event known as the Celestial Collapse. This calamity has disrupted the flow of runes, caused the gods to vanish, and left the land and its people in despair.

The game introduces new combat mechanics, allowing players to wield weapons like the Bow and Talisman alongside Earth Dancer abilities to fight corruption. Beyond combat, players are tasked with rebuilding villages by constructing buildings and attracting inhabitants. The game incorporates Japanese-inspired aesthetics, festivals, and events, and includes romance options with fully voiced characters who can also be recruited as allies.
