Manor Lords is a medieval city-building and real-time strategy game developed by Slavic Magic. It emphasizes historical accuracy, drawing inspiration from late 14th-century Franconia, and eschews common medieval tropes for a more authentic portrayal. Players manage resources, production chains, and seasonal demands within a complex economic and social simulation.The game features gridless city construction with free placement and rotation, allowing settlements to form organically based on terrain and trade routes. Residential, commercial, and industrial districts spread from a central marketplace, with building placement informed by soil fertility, animal populations, and resource availability. Beyond managed production, residents contribute through backyard extensions, growing food and raising small livestock. Large-scale tactical battles are a core component, where player-led armies, including trained warriors and town militia, contend with fatigue, weather, and equipment. Every soldier lost in combat represents a citizen removed from the city, underscoring the personal cost of conflict.
