DOOM + DOOM II combines the seminal first-person shooter DOOM, originally released in 1993, with its critically acclaimed 1994 sequel, DOOM II, in a newly enhanced product from id Software. Players engage in intense battles against demonic forces, navigating a total of 187 mission maps and 43 deathmatch maps. The experience centers on aggressive combat, utilizing powerful weapons to confront a variety of hellish adversaries.
These enhanced versions introduce several technical and gameplay improvements, running on the KEX engine with multithreaded rendering supporting up to 4K resolution and 60 FPS with native 16:9 support. Players can choose between original MIDI or modern IDKFA soundtracks, utilize modern controller support with a weapon carousel, and benefit from improved mouse and keyboard controls. Multiplayer options include online, cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players, alongside local split-screen modes for up to four. The collection includes the original DOOM and DOOM II, along with expansions such as TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, Master Levels for DOOM II, No Rest for the Living, Sigil, and the new Legacy of Rust episode, which introduces new demons and weapons. Community-published mod support is integrated with an in-game browser, leveraging BOOM source compatibility for a wide range of fan-created content.
