Devil Engine

Devil Engine is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up developed by Protoculture Games. The game places players in control of the Andraste, a lone ship tasked with preventing a disastrous future by destroying the titular Devil Engine. Its visual style employs hand-drawn pixel art reminiscent of 32-bit era titles, complemented by a soundtrack from shmup composer Hyakutarou Tsukumo.

Gameplay mechanics include three distinct shot types, each with unique bomb abilities. Players can build and expend a bullet-absorbing burst mechanic to manage enemy fire and maintain combos. Competition is encouraged through eight distinct game modes focused on high scores. Progression involves unlocking shaders, music, stages, and additional ships using in-game points earned through gameplay.
