Defenders of Ekron - Definitive Edition is an action-adventure game that blends shoot'em up combat with dungeon exploration. Players pilot an Anakim mech, utilizing its Isvará ability to absorb environmental energy for devastating attacks. The narrative follows a pilot whose Anakim cannot develop its Isvará, leaving them vulnerable to Renegade Anakim pilots threatening Ekron's order. The game spans 10 missions and allows players to develop mech skills, unlocking combat styles like Power Sabers, Pyromancy, and Electromagnetism.
The Definitive Edition enhances the core experience with new difficulty settings, gameplay improvements including additional checkpoints, and a Boss Rush Mode pitting players against all 13 main bosses consecutively. It also includes the 8-bit retro mini-game "Invaders of Ekron."
