APICO is a casual simulation game where players breed, collect, and conserve bees. The game centers on returning to a family home in Port APICO to engage in beekeeping, integrating resource gathering, biology, and minigames inspired by real and fantastical apiculture. Players can cross-breed bees to discover over 45 new species, repopulate lost species, and explore multiple biomes while uncovering island secrets.
The gameplay includes unique crafting and beekeeping minigames that advance progression, alongside mechanics for discovering solitary bees and creating habitats for them. Players can also catch and collect butterflies with special effects, and produce and sell honey, Apicola, and other beekeeping products. APICO supports 4-player online co-op and is moddable for extended play. A portion of the game's proceeds will be donated to bee conservation charities.
