Abyss Odyssey, a debut IP from indie Chilean developer ACE Team, is a side-scrolling action adventure game built around a complex fighting engine. Players select one of three distinct warriors to descend into a procedurally generated abyss. Engage in aggressive combat, chaining basic and special attacks to perform combos against diverse foes. Crucially, players can possess defeated enemies, taking on their forms and utilizing their unique skills and combat abilities to navigate the ever-changing challenges.
The game's deep combat system incorporates mechanics from the fighting game genre, offering expansive move sets for heroes and captured enemies, alongside universal mobility options and advanced techniques. Each descent into the Abyss provides a fresh experience through randomized level layouts, enemy spawns, and item placements. Unlock and customize hero characters with skill points and equipment, tailoring abilities from freezing to cursing opponents. Beyond solo play, the campaign supports online or local cooperative multiplayer, allowing a second player to drop in at any time. A bonus versus mode also enables up to four players to engage in competitive free-for-all or team-based battles using any unlocked character.
