Crusader Kings III: Roads to Power is a Major Expansion for the grand strategy RPG Crusader Kings III. It introduces a new Administrative Government system for managing empires outside the feudal structure, allowing landless characters to build power through the Family Estate mechanic. Players can utilize an Influence System to ascend bureaucratic ranks and engage in a new "Adventurer" lifestyle to gain fame and fortune across the medieval world. The expansion also includes Byzantine-themed events, monuments, activities, and cosmetic additions.The Administrative Government system enables players to govern empires without relying on traditional feudal titles, with Governors vying for power through merit or intrigue. The Family Estate mechanic allows landless characters to establish a power base and construct buildings to increase their influence within an administrative empire. The Influence System provides a path to climb bureaucratic ranks, enabling players to compete for provinces and potentially claim the imperial throne. The "A Life of Adventure" option permits free-roaming gameplay, fulfilling contracts and building a reputation as a landless adventurer before settling land earned through merit. Players can spend accumulated influence to select the empire's successor or even opt for co-rule. New Byzantine flavor content includes events, monuments like chariot racing, and cosmetic enhancements such as a Byzantine UI skin, court fashions, 2D art, and music inspired by Orthodox chants.
