Commando Unit - 4th Generation Warfare is an add-on for a strategy game that introduces an elite military squad specializing in secret operations and infiltration. Players control the Commando unit's Leader, who can recruit and train men from a Special Forces HQ. The unit utilizes specialized equipment, including marine or land mines, smoke bombs, and gas masks, alongside vehicles like a Chinook helicopter, combat Zodiacs, and fast 4x4 jeeps for covert operations. Gameplay allows for two distinct approaches: solo infiltration with actions such as planting bombs, kidnapping, or exfiltration, or leading a combat unit to execute tactics like laying minefields, conducting lightning attacks on enemy bases, and sabotaging units.
